Dewey's Pizza is closing its Newport on the Levee location — at least for now.
The restaurant will be closed due to the renovation efforts at the Levee, a news release says, and could potentially reopen there in the future.
“We are excited about the future of the Levee and our opportunity to evaluate new locations within the re-envisioned space to better serve our guests,” Dewey's President Chuck Lipp said in a news release.
Developer North American Properties is eyeing a $100 million redevelopment effort of the Levee shopping center.
The gourmet pizza spot was the sole remaining original tenant at the Levee, according to Dewey's, starting there in October 2001 as the company's third location. Dewey's has eight other area locations and most recently renovated its Clifton restaurant. Overall, the chain owns 25 locations across the midwest.
The restaurant follows other original tenants that have recently closed at the Levee, including Barnes & Noble and Mitchell's Fish Market.
Dewey's last day on the Levee will be Feb. 24, the company says.
“Our Newport location is part of the community and it’s been an honor to serve,” Dewey's Director of Operations Paul Folker said in a news release. “Our team is committed to providing exceptional hospitality and premium products until the very last pie. And, we look forward to returning soon.”
