In the final stretch of Kamala Harris' presidential campaign, vice presidential candidate Tim Walz will make a visit to Cincinnati next week to secure fundraising for the ticket.

Walz is set to visit Cincinnati on Oct. 5 as part of his tour through Midwestern states ahead of the upcoming election.

At this time, all that is known is that Walz will attend a private fundraiser. Other information, including the location or time of the fundraiser, has yet to be announced.

In the past month, Walz has been making appearances in Midwestern states that are often seen as key swing states for the 2024 election. On Sept. 21, Walz spoke at a rally in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in an effort to reach as many areas of the state as possible — a strategy the Harris-Walz campaign considers critical to winning the state. He also rallied in Wisconsin earlier this month. The governor of Minnesota will also be in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Sept. 27 for the Minnesota Golden Gophers’ game against the Michigan Wolverines.

According to an analysis released by NPR, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan are considered potential swing states for the 2024 election.

While Ohio is not viewed as a swing state in the upcoming election, it was considered one in the 2012 and 2004 elections. Currently labeled a red state, and with Donald Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, hailing from Middletown, many have posited that it is unlikely to break from its red-leaning trends.

Just before his visit to Cincinnati, Walz and Vance will debate in the only scheduled vice presidential debate on Oct. 1 starting at 9 p.m. Viewers can watch the debate live on CBS News and stream it online via CBS News 24/7 and Paramount+.  It will also be simulcast on platforms such as PBS News, C-Span and Fox News.
