5 Shot, 3 Killed Near University of Cincinnati's Campus Early Monday

Cincinnati Police are investigating an early morning shooting that left three dead and two injured just blocks away from the University of Cincinnati's main campus in Corryville on July 1.

According to CPD, officers responded to the 300 block of East University Avenue for a report of a shooting around 2:45 a.m. Officers arrived to find four shooting victims; another victim self-transported to a nearby hospital. Of the five who were shot, three are dead and two are listed in stable condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

CPD has confirmed that all five shooting victims are male but has not released any other identifying details.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with ALL who have been impacted by this tragic incident, this is simply heartbreaking," CPD said in an initial media release.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has any information is being asked to call Crime Stoppers, CPD's anonymous tip line, at 513-352-3040.
