Portion of Covington's Dee Felice Cafe Transforming into Neighborhood Market

The long-standing New Orleans-style eatery closed its doors in June due to the pandemic. Now, it's shifting its focus to offer market goods and grab-and-go menu favorites in part of its space.

MainStrasse Village will soon have its own neighborhood market, filling a much-needed void in the community. 

Long-standing Covington culinary staple, Dee Felice Cafe, is transforming a portion of their restaurant into a grocery store, pivoting their business model to offer market goods and grab-and-go menu favorites, according to a Facebook announcement from the newly minted Dee Felice Market. 

The team behind the New Orleans-style eatery plans to offer the same "quality service and product selection" that their patrons have grown to appreciate over the past almost four decades that the restaurant has been in business.

    

The market reached out to the community with a list of goods they plan to offer, and asked for their neighbors to identify any other items they want to have stocked. 

"We want to let you know, in the future we will be offering many of our Cafe favorites as grab and go dinners, plus our famous red beans and rice, black eyed peas and black bean soup. We are adding a number of beers and are working on providing wine too," the post reads. 

The restaurant closed at the beginning of the pandemic and used their time to carry out some renovations. Then, 99 days later, the restaurant reopened and closed indefinitely the following day "to protect their customers and employees," a pinned post on the restaurant's Facebook reads
