Over-the-Rhine's Findlay Market just got some more attention from a major magazine (Food & Wine gave OTR in general — and the market in particular — a shout-out in 2018): Travel + Leisure named Findlay the "epicenter of Cincinnati's culinary revival" in a recent story.

The piece describes the history of the market and lists myriad reasons to visit whether you're in town for business or pleasure ranging from admiring booths upon booths of colorful spices, flowers and assorted cut meats to calling out specific vendors to visit.

Writer Sara Franklin starts by suggesting a stop at Taste of Belgium to sample Jean-François Flechet's Belgian waffles, followed by a visit to Eckerlin Meats.

"Stop in for a taste of goetta, the Cincinnati area’s answer to scrapple: an addictively spiced mixture of beef, pork, and steel-cut oats," she writes of Eckerlin.

After that, the article calls out specialty grocer Dean's Mediterranean Imports, Colombian and Venezuelan street food spot The Arepa Place and incubator The Findlay Kitchen.

The story finishes by heaping praise on The Rhined and Maverick Chocolate.

"Don’t miss the Rhined, Stephanie and Dave Webster’s beautifully-curated artisanal cheese shop. The careful selection ranges from American farmstead cheeses from the Ohio River Valley to the best European imports. Order a glass from the beautifully approachable wine and beer list; pair a few cheeses, some charcuterie, and bread from Sixteen Bricks; and perch at the counter or the shop’s cozy back porch...Finish off your market tour with something sweet at Maverick, Cincinnati’s award-winning chocolatier and Ohio’s first bean-to-bar chocolate company."

Luckily, as Cincinnatians, we get access to this culinary gem every day.

Findlay Market is located at 1801 Race St., Over-the-Rhine. For more info and specific vendor hours, visit findlaymarket.org.
