Northside’s Business District is now home to a new mural on the wall of Climb Cincy that pays tribute to Northside’s quirkiness and the fun of rock climbing.

The mural, located on Lakeman Street, was designed by Cincinnati natives and local artists Danielle Schaefer and Rileigh Smyth, in collaboration with Climb Cincy members and several local artists who volunteered to help work on the project.

The piece stands at 18 feet tall and 24 feet wide and depicts two octopuses climbing through space, paying homage to Cincinnati’s climbing community. With intricate linework, design and vibrant colors that pop off the wall, it’s sure to catch the eye of a local passing by or a tourist enjoying all of Northside’s unique treasures.

“The mural was envisioned as a way to turn our building into an outward reflection of the vibrant and goofy community inside. We wanted to bring creativity and color to our space, making our gym feel as dynamic and inviting as the people who climb here,” said Climb Cincy’s manager, Meredith Meads, in a press release.

So, next time you’re in Northside for a cup of coffee or enjoying the nightlife, head over to Climb Cincy and check out the giant octopuses.
