Even as the lights of BLINK 2024 go down, the fun will continue with the festival’s first-ever after-party.
BLINK, Cincinnati’s premier arts and light festival, returns Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 17-20. On Thursday, organizers announced the new, ticketed after-party, “afterglow,” which will take place Saturday, Oct. 19 at MegaCorp Pavilion in Newport following regular BLINK programming.
In addition to keeping the party going, afterglow will also celebrate the artists who are making the festival possible, as well as the inspiration the festival draws from music, culture and dance.
“We're thrilled to introduce afterglow at this year's BLINK — a cultural celebration that honors the artists and creators who make it all possible,” Josh Heuser, founder of AGAR — an executive partner of BLINK — said in a press release. “On Saturday night, MegaCorp Pavilion will transform into an indoor installation, offering an immersive light and dance experience. We look forward to continuing the tradition of BLINK by creating new and exciting experiences together.”
afterglow will feature music, food and dancing, with musician and DJ Austin Millz headlining. Millz has become a viral sensation, recently performing a surprise set at the BREAKAWAY Music Festival, joining a new member class of the Recording Academy, attending Amiri’s Menswear Show at Paris Fashion Week, performing as a special guest with DJ Martin Garrix during his San Francisco shows and holding a residency in Las Vegas. BLINK organizers say Millz will bring his larger-than-life stage presence and fusion of hip-hop and electronic music to BLINK.
The choice of MegaCorp Pavilion to host the first-ever BLINK after-party comes after it was announced the festival would expand into Newport this year. Two BLINK installations will also be located near the entertainment venue.
“Over the years, BLINK has created unique opportunities and long-lasting memories for Greater Cincinnati families, artists and area businesses. The expansion of BLINK into Newport generates even broader access for Northern Kentuckians to join in this extraordinary experience,” Abby Gerwe, director of special events with PromoWest Productions/AEG Presents, said in the release. “MegaCorp Pavilion is thrilled to cap off the weekend by opening our doors for the official BLINK after-party: afterglow. We look forward to showcasing our state-of-the-art venue enhanced by the distinctive BLINK atmosphere. It will be a can’t-miss event. See you on the Kentucky side!”
afterglow is open to anyone 21 or older, and doors will open at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19. Tickets are on sale now for $30 here, and it’s the only BLINK event that will require a ticket for entry.
