When Saving Escape was announced as one of the only Cincinnati bands performing at 2018’s Bunbury Music Festival, the young Blues Rock group had just one original song (“Indigo Road”) available online to check out in advance of the event. But fans will finally get a handful of new originals this week as Saving Escape, which cites artists from Led Zeppelin to Rival Sons as influences, releases its debut EP, Old Soul.
The EP (due this Friday, Jan. 18) was recorded in Columbus, Ohio with Joe Viers, who has worked with artists like Lydia Loveless, Ekoostik Hookah and Twenty One Pilots. Old Soul was mastered by former Columbus resident Brian Lucey, who has a pair of Grammys and has worked on albums by Cage the Elephant, The Black Keys, The Shins, Ryan Bingham, Dr. Dog and many others.
To celebrate the new release (which features “Indigo Road” — which you can listen to below — and four other tracks), the band is playing Saturday, Jan. 19 at Bogart’s (2621 Vine St., Corryville, bogarts.com). Joining the group for the 6:30 p.m. release party/show are fellow locals Vatics and Columbus’ BareFuzz and Liberty Deep Down. Tickets are available for $10 in advance.
