WHAT SHOULD I BE DOING INSTEAD OF THIS?

Senior Bowl, Trees, Where's the Boss?

Sports Illustrated is reporting that iconic Rock band The Who will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show in February. Now in the year 6 A.T. (“After Titty”), halftime organizers continue to distance themselves from the horrifying Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake tragedy of Super Bowl XXXVIII, when the world nearly ended because viewers got a sorta-peak of Janet Jackson’s boobage that was less provocative than a mammogram brochure.

Conflicted in Colerain

Dear Maija, I’m in a fantasy baseball league with a coworker and a bunch of his weird family members and their friends. Last year my buddy won a football league that most of these same dudes were in and nobody paid him the league fees.

Last week, Cincinnati Art Museum filled us in on the upcoming season and other subjects. We’ve already published the museum’s Fall schedule, so I’m going to bring up some of the other information they shared with us. While the recession has definitely had an impact, the museum continues to move forward.

Valley Temple in Wyoming is a small synagogue just off Springfield Pike. In fact, it’s so small that you’d probably drive right by it if you weren’t looking for it. But this small Reform Jewish congregation has a pretty big idea for getting people reconnected with their Judaism for the High Holy Days.

As summer draws to a close and families with schoolage children begin preparing for the coming semester, the leaders of Project REACH are gearing up for their second year of work. The program, which provided intensive college-prep guidance in five Cincinnati Public Schools high schools last year, hopes to expand to two more schools for the 2009-10 year.

Careful: Streetcar Petitions Can Be Deceptive

It’s certainly true that good people can come to different conclusions and disagree on an issue. Sometimes, however, good people are led astray by those with ulterior motives. For more than a year, an unusual coalition of arch-conservatives, civil rights groups, Libertarians, Green Party members and others have joined together to mount several petition drives that have made the ballot and let voters decide on issues that otherwise would have been made by elected officials.

Party Like It's 1999

There is no spoon. Maybe there was prior to 1999. But that was before everything changed. During the summer of 1999, humanity suddenly had a choice between the red pill and the blue pill. We learned the first (and second) rule of fight club. We saw dead people.

It’s refreshing when a band is christened purposefully and not by randomly assembling words that have never been juxtaposed before.

The Hands Across Basements Fest

Returning for a second year of underground Punk goodness

Maybe The Ramones said it best on the seventh track of their 1976 debut album: “Hey daddyo/I don’t wanna go down/To the basement/There’s somethin’ down there.” Imagine the place these primal punks were conjuring up: A damp, dimly lit underground room in an ancient house with a low-hung ceiling.
