An all-female Punk group in Russia has been jailed for protesting recently reelected president Vladimir Putin. According to The Guardian, members of Pussy Riot were arrested after performing a guerilla gig on the eve of election day at Moscow’s Christ the Saviour cathedral, debuting the song, “Holy Shit”   

When I first caught wind of Spectacle: The Music Video, opening Saturday at the Contemporary Arts Center downtown, I felt like I was heading over to Steve’s all over again. The new exhibition explores the music video’s past and present while considering its future through a series of artifacts, photos, immersive environments and literally hundreds of music videos.  

Time has not been good to the arcade game. In the last decade, the accelerated pace of take-home technology has unarguably established consoles like the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360 as the video game’s dominant products, forcing the coin-operated game out of the market.  

The fact that Cincinnati, despite its size, feels like a place where everybody knows your name is a really charming quality, but it makes it difficult to interview people.I recently sat down with Stuart MacKenzie from The Lions Rampant in a semi-professional setting (The Comet) to talk about the band's new album.  

On their Web site, The Comforts call themselves “crowd pleasers at biker bars and church festivals.” Listening to their latest release, the six-song EP Come On In!, it’s hard to tell whether that nod to their evident fan base is tongue-in-cheek or honest, because the Anderson Township-based band actually sounds pretty damn good for a grown-up bubblegum band content with hitting the suburban circuit.
