Right out of the gate in the sixth episode of the long-running Harry Potter saga, sex casts quite a spell. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) have grown into young adults at an alarming rate.

In response to Joe Wessels’ “A Park Grows at Fernald” (issue of May 13), Fernald has been an albatross hanging on the neck of the Greater Cincinnati area over the years. It’s great to read about all of the proactive steps being taken with the former uranium processing plant and see it become a beacon of hope for a greener future.

I was half asleep on the couch the other night when something struck me: I’m the human equivalent of a soft-serve “twist” cone. I jumped slightly at this realization — nothing makes me sit bolt upright, mind you. I’m a twist cone: a safe mix of vanilla and chocolate.

We’ve all seen the bumper sticker: a simplistic drawing of a baby chicken above the words “Chicks Rock.” Well, that statement couldn’t be truer in the case of Lisa Walker and Margaret Darling, the female faces behind local bands Wussy and The Seedy Seeds, respectively.

Regarding Joe Wessels’ column “Cutting the Safety Net” (issue of April 8), I’d like to respond to his comment “handing out money over and over again to those who take and never think about changing themselves is flat-out criminal.”
