Green Dog Cafe is exploding on the scene and so far has been met with mixed reviews. Why? Because it’s different. Seeing as it was started by veteran restaurateurs Mark and Mary Swortwood, who also started the Brown Dog Cafe in Blue Ash and Tinks Cafe in Clifton, the decision to forgo conventional table service in favor of a walk-up counter wasn’t made on a whim.

The first big stakes will be driven into the ground in May, but the real support structure for the summer of 2009’s attempt to propel the industry’s dreams of box-office glory just might be a scattered collection of projects that could bring niche audiences under the big tent.

Besides his numerous hit singles over the years, Kenny Rogers has given society a lot. He gave the world great roasted chicken. He made grey hair cool way before Anderson Cooper. And his more recent attempts to warn against the potential ill effects of plastic surgery have been incredibly noble.
