SUNDAY FEB. 17: Today marks the 50th birthday of
basketball star and cultural icon, His Airness, Michael Jordan. As one
of the most exciting and dominant athletes ever, Jordan won titles at
the collegiate and pro levels, was an All Star like 29 times and notably
saved the human race from alien criminals in Space Jam.
To some, the AR-15 is a symbol of American freedom. To others, it's a weapon of mass destruction.

LGBTQ magazine CNKY Scene presents its first-ever film festival this weekend.
The three-day fest will screen 22 international short and feature films,
present Q&As and workshops through Sunday at Know Theater. Special events
include the screening of Raid of the
Rainbow Lounge followed by Q&A with narrator, actress Meredith Baxter

Travel back in
time for a Midsummer Masquerade
at Loveland Castle Saturday. Dress in masks and costume, or just sport your most
fanciful duds, and enjoy performances by Dante’s Gypsy Circus, Robbin Marks
Magic, aerial dancers, live music and more. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at
the door — er, castle gates. The soiree runs 8-11 p.m.Come to the castle early
for an all-ages festival beginning at 11 a.m. Castle Day features food, beer,
crafts, entertainment and a great opportunity to saunter the castle grounds.Considered to be the oldest festival in Cincinnati, Schutzenfest is a German celebration for all ages. The Kolping Center will be packed with authentic food and beer, games, vendors, rides and lots of live entertainment. The fest runs Friday-Sunday and admission is $3. Find details here.

Thursday’s presentation of Ugandan artist Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine’s multimedia piece, A
Friday night is the last chance. Mwine portrays four different characters
onstage to describe the oppression of LGBTQ citizens in Uganda. The performance
includes raw video footage and photographs, dealing with a serious subject
matter with an upbeat tone. Tickets for the 8 p.m. performance are $20, $14 for

Ghostly snow devils swirl around the darkness of Loveland Avenue West, but a steamy window with "Tano" scrawled across it glows with a homey, diffuse light, beckoning us out of the cold. Inside, we find a warm space filled with convivial guests for whom the holiday season is still in full swing. It will be fun to see how Tano Bistro evolves as the seasons change, but for now it's a great place to shelter from the cold.
The menu is surprising and thoughtful, and the prices are reasonable

Named after George Bailey in 'It's a Wonderful Life,' G. Bailey's is a new venture by the company that operates the Golden Lamb in Lebanon and carries the tagline "It's a Wonderful Place." If you're looking for a cheap place in your neighborhood that has good, fresh food and lets you take a trip back in time with the music and some of the food choices, check it out.
