Your move, Deadspin
Move over, Taco Bell. Deadspin,
brace your taste buds and typin’ fingers for a twist on Cincy’s “abominable garbage-gravy.” Gold Star Chili now serves Doritos
nachos.Arriving just in time to sabotage your New Year’s health resolutions, Gold Star
has added a Nacho Cheese Dorito-based dish to its menu. The nachos feature Gold Star's signature Cincinnati-style chili atop a mountain of
orange-dusted tortilla chips, complete with all the fixins: tomatoes,
jalapenos, black olives, a heap of cheddar, sour cream and chipotle ranch
dressing. No word yet on a Cooler Ranch version.
The specialty nachos are available through Feb. 23 — Gold Star even has a
countdown on its new specialty site, cincinnacho.com.
Patrons are encouraged to snap a nacho
selfie with the dish and post on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using
#cincinnacho for a chance to win an Xbox One, iPhone or iPad
Mini, airline tickets, concert tickets, a smart TV
or, best of all, more free Doritos nachos!

In response to Joe Wessels’ “A Park Grows at Fernald” (issue of May 13), Fernald has been an albatross hanging on the neck of the Greater Cincinnati area over the years. It’s great to read about all of the proactive steps being taken with the former uranium processing plant and see it become a beacon of hope for a greener future.

After I read Larry Gross’ “Looking for the Joy” column (issue of Dec. 10), I ended up shaking my head as tears came streaming down my face. He has this way of pushing my buttons.

Hey, I read Larry Gross' amusing "Lunch With Andrea" Living Out Loud column (issue of Nov. 26) and could not help but wonder: Was he really having lunch with my grandmother? She couldn't bring herself to vote for Barack Obama and, like Gross' friend, holds on to the belief that Republicans are looking out for her.

I’m a regular reader of Larry Gross’ Living Out Loud column. I’m constantly amazed at how he puts himself out there, and last week’s column is no exception (“My Bartender and Bar Politics,” issue of Nov. 12). His “ode to a bartender” story was wonderful.

I want to thank Joe Wessels for his well written and much needed column on today's newspaper journalism ('Read All About It While You Can,' issue of Oct. 1). My wife and I have seen a continuing decline in the quality and abundance of good journalism in newspapers today.
