It's easy to get lost in the ideological gamesmanship of Michael Moore's tactics. But here he challenges audiences on both sides of the issue by allowing us to see the personal and philosophical toll. Not just in the stories of families being thrown out of their homes or even the galvanizing efforts of Chicago union workers to fight for back pay after their company closed, but for Moore himself. This is a love story, and America couldn't ask for a more affectionate and steadfast lover. Grade: A.  

Can film (including, defining the term broadly, Internet videos) save popular music from its commercial destruction? Three recent and vastly disparate examples — Anvil, Susan Boyle and Leonard Cohen — give hope.  

Gustave Reininger's documentary, 'Corso: The Last Beat,' confirms the Gregory Corso's immense impact on his fellow Beat writers — the inner circle of which included William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac — and is an incisive, highly personal look at Corso's tireless search for truth. A Greater Cincinnati native best known as the creator of the acclaimed television drama 'Crime Story,' Reininger will be on hand Feb. 6 at an advance screening of his film.  

The story centers on an evil international agency trying to privatize and control the water supply in Bolivia. Not gold, not oil, not diamonds, not plutonium - just plain old water. How'd they ever come up with that bizarre, seemingly fantastical plot line? After all, we all know water belongs to the people, just like air.  

Bill Maher is a polarizing guy. There's not much middle ground when it comes to his snide, often condescending brand of comedy: You either agree with him or you hate his guts. The same can be said of Maher's sure-to-be-controversial new documentary Religulous.
