We had joy, we had fun. We had some frustration and anger, too. Such has been the way of the MidPoint Music Festival since its origins in 2002. But, in the end, MPMF’s 2010 edition proved to be the most successful yet, drawing thousands of music lovers to downtown, Over-the-Rhine and Newport over the course of three days.
While you're waiting for nostalgia for the '00s to kick in (remember that crazy Kanye West dude?), you can dip back to the 1990s Friday as several local musicians team up at The Mad Hatter for a musical tribute to the era that saw Hair Metal murdered by Grunge. The show is headlined by (presumably one-off) local supergroup tribute bands The Neverminds (Nirvana tribute), Butthole Son (Soundgarden), Hung Bunny (Melvins) and Bossarosa (Pixies).
As we approach the beginning of a new decade, I decided to try to think of 100 reasons why I've enjoyed covering Cincinnati music over the past 3,650 days. At first I was worried I might not be able to come up with enough. A couple of hours into an "off the top of my head" list, I considered changing it to 1,000 reasons. After some hard editing choices, I've managed to squeeze the decade down into 50 items.
