There are many signs of a good restaurant — the loosening of the belt, the phrase “I’m stuffed,” silence at a table full of people concentrating on the flavors of their meals — but my favorite is when you’re reading the menu at the end of your meal to plan the next one.

I recently had the opportunity to have lunch at Cincinnati COOKS!, a kitchen in an old building on Ezzard Charles Drive across from a vacant lot. No, it's not the scene you get at most restaurants in Cincinnati, but this building has a thousand times more soul and spirit than all of them put together.

Now that I've received my first piece of reader feedback for The Dish, which commented on my "bland reporting" of crepes last month (and other things I won't mention here), I will be sure to make things sound more exciting this month.
