Margaret Darling, co-founder of Indie/Electro Pop darlings The Seedy Seeds, takes over the Southgate House’s “Artist in Residence” series for January, performing in the venue’s intimate Juney’s Lounge for free every Wednesday this month.  

The names of many of the performers for this year's MidPoint Music Festival (coming up Sept. 23-25) have been leaking out gradually over the past few months. But this Friday, mpmf.com will unveil a new interactive schedule with all of the artists scheduled to play the event.  

Post Punk crew Swear Jar celebrates the release of its new long-player 'Cuss' Saturday at the Southgate House Parlour. Though the press release for Cuss states "most people won't like it," fans of old-school, underground, independent Rock and Punk will immediately get what Swear Jar is doing.  

Organizers for Sunday's "Help for Haiti" benefit at Oakley's 20th Century Theatre put together a show in just a few days, and the massive and diverse roster of performers shows just how quick to help local artists are when an important cause comes up. The 6 p.m. concert will have Them Bones featuring Cheryl Renee, Freekbass, Kathy Wade, Kevin Fox, Sonny Moorman, Scotty Anderson, Phil DeGreg Trio, Steve Schmidt, Rumpke Mountain Boys, Robin Lacy and DeZydeco and many more acts. Suggested donation is $20. Proceeds go to the Red Cross.  

The Cincy Blues Society's annual "Winter Blues Fest" is coming up at the end of January, but Monday you can get your Blues fix via a stellar lineup at Play By Play in Silverton. And it's for a good cause: helping area artists spread the good word of Midwestern Blues. The "Road to Memphis 2010" raises money to help local musicians get to Memphis to battle in next month's International Blues Challenge.  

The showcase raises money to help local musicians get to Memphis at the end of the month to battle in the International Blues Challenge against entries from around the world. Scheduled to play Monday (and head to Memphis) are Cheryl Renee with Them Bones, Ricky Nye, Twelve-Eight and Jimmy D. Rogers.  

Keyboardist/vocalist Cheryl Renee's live shows are high-energy evenings of bawdy, brassy Blues, and she's teamed up with Cincinnati mainstays Them Bones to offer a taste of her performing prowess on a recently released live CD of classic Blues covers.
