Most people who have seen even just a preview for an episode of Two and a Half Men have an opinion on why some people think it’s funny to watch Charlie Sheen’s character talking about women’s boobs in front of a teenager (because they’re stupid). That’s why it was ironic today to learn that the show has been canceled due to Sheen’s increasingly crazy real life.  

The Republican state senator from Green Township, Bill Seitz, often puts common sense before blind loyalty to ideology. For example, he wants to reform Ohio’s prison sentencing laws so low-level, nonviolent offenders are diverted to other punishments, to save on skyrocketing jail costs.  

When a group of Westwood residents decided to form Westwood Works (WW) last winter, they envisioned it as a more positive, productive counterpart to the Westwood Civic Association, which is known for its strident rhetoric. One of WW's first actions was to invite the nonprofit ArtWorks to paint a public mural in the neighborhood.  

Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate leader from Louisville, recently criticized President Obama's plans for reducing carbon emissions by stating it would cost every household about $3,100 a year. But his opposition might stem from the fact that he's accepted $474,658 from oil companies in the 2000-08 period, making him a leading recipient of oil contributions.  

It's difficult to resist the urge to tell Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune, "I told ya so." Portune made a big deal a few weeks ago of his teaming up with his colleague, County Commissioner Greg Hartmann, to devise a solution for the looming deficits in the county's stadium account. Much like President Obama at the national level, Portune was enamored of his bipartisan approach to the problem.  

There's a lawsuit just beginning in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court that potentially could involve the largest amount of damages ever awarded locally if the plaintiff is successful. Little surprise, then, that the plaintiff's lawyer is Stan Chesley, a master of class-action and personal injury lawsuits who's an A-list celebrity in the Queen City.
