The annual exhibition of Greater Cincinnati’s fantastic American Roots music scene, Rivertown Breakdown, presents its 10th anniversary event this Saturday at Newport’s Southgate House. Besides showcasing local music, the event — the brainchild of local Folk music hero Jake Speed — has raised money each year for “river-related” causes.
The annual Rivertown Breakdown has been the finest showcase of local Roots music practitioners for nine years now. And the lineup for this year's event once again provides a "Cincinnati Roots Music Scene 101" for local Americana fans: Rumpke Mountain Boys, Magnolia Mountain, Straw Boss, Jake Speed & the Freddies, Frontier Folk Nebraska, Shiny and the Spoon, Faux Frenchmen, Cincinnati Dancing Pigs, Rubber Knife Gang, Marmalade Brigade and many, many more.

Dear MidPoint Performer: Welcome to Cincinnati, the city I've enjoyed living, working and making music in for the past 20 years. I hope your experience is a great one. And I hope you don't leave. Really. Take a good hard look around while you're here. The rent is cheap, the architecture and geography are stimulating and the people are generally sweethearts. But Cincinnati is also building something, and we need more builders with your kind of tools.
