WATCH: Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” Music Video

In early September, Cincinnati major-label act Walk the Moon had its new single, “Shut Up and Dance,” released by RCA Records. The song — which the band performed on Late Night with Seth Myers on Sept. 15 — is slated for inclusion on the band’s next full-length for RCA, the group’s second for the label. The new album is due for release later this year. Today, the “Shut Up and Dance” video was made public. In the press materials for the new clip, frontman Nicholas Petricca says, “Influenced by the plot-driven music videos of the 80s and nerdy visuals of 90s television, our new video for Shut Up and Dance is a trippy story of dork victory.  We are the proud mothers and co-directors of this weird throwbacky fantasy, alongside the brilliantly funny Josh Forbes.” There’s also an awesomely awkward dance break from Petricca in the clip. Walk the Moon is currently doing a national tour (with fellow Cincinntians Public opening several dates) that has largely sold out; an announcement of a more extensive spring tour in support of the new album is due in the coming weeks.Check out Mashable’s piece on the new video, in which Petricca picks his favorite ’80s music videos here.

Walk the Moon Album Cover, Tracklist Revealed

Cincinnati AltPop quartet's major label debut due June 19

Local on-the-rise AltPop band Walk the Moon's debut album for RCA Records (NOT their debut album, as is widely reported) is set for release on June 19 and MTV just posted the album cover and tracklist on its "Buzzworthy" blog. (The band was deemed one of MTV's "Artists to Watch" for 2012.) Click over to MTV for the list of songs on the release (yes, "Anna Sun" is on there!). The band begins its "Naked Feet Tour" later this month. No Cincy date yet, though they'll play the Forecastle Festival in Louisville on July 15 (and will surely fit a local date or two into the schedule at some point). The band will be touring Europe later in the year for the first time with majorly-buzzing band fun. Here's the cover to the RCA Records release, Walk the Moon.

Walk The Moon's RCA Debut Out Now

The Anna Sun EP marks Cincinnati band's major-label debut, showcasing three unreleased tracks from forthcoming LP

Last week, Cincinnati's stars-in-the-making Walk the Moon issued the first release under its deal with RCA Records. Though only three songs, the effort is illuminating and a hint of what's to come on the band's forthcoming, so-far-untitled RCA full-length debut (due to be released this May). The Indie Dance Pop foursome has seemingly been touring and doing business related tasks non-stop for at least the last year. Now that it has a release on RCA, that will only increase. The recording is called Anna Sun EP, named for the band's irresistible tune that (along with a stellar music video) helped initially generate much of the buzz they've received fairly consistently over the past year or so.The song "Anna Sun" is on the EP, but those who have i want! i want! (the group's stellar self-released LP containing the original track) might still want to listen. It's a new version of the catchy song, slicked up a bit for radio and seemingly (inexplicably) sped up.
