Queen City Cookies goes pin-up with new shortbread

Find Queen City Cookies' new line of Bettie Page-printed shortbread cookies at this week's City Flea (10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the American Can Building in Northside) and at the bakery. See (and eat) the "Queen of the Pin-ups" in classic Page poses. Queen City Cookies also has special Halloween-themed treats with black cats, skeletons, spiders and more printed on sugary shortbread — broom delivery or pick-up available.

A Very Findlay Holiday

Aren’t you glad you don’t live in the days when “sugarplums” were a big Christmas treat? What is a sugarplum, anyway? I’m looking forward to some old-fashioned goodies, but I’m making my list and checking to be sure it’s all local and all delicious. Pretty much everything included in this list can be found at Findlay Market, so that’s one-stop shopping you can feel good about.

Market Garden in Place for World Choir Games

There are plenty of restaurants downtown, but for the World Choir Games, the city has set up a Market Garden at the corner of Fifth and Race streets to provide additional options that are fast and affordable. It’s a great “Taste of Cincinnati” opportunity — without the crowds and long lines.Eats include local food trucks and Cincinnati’s own Mecklenburg Gardens, A Taste of Julia, sweets from Graeter's and Queen City Cookies (yay!) and more. There are also local gift and souvenir stands. They did a great job selecting vendors for this, so be sure to enjoy it during the Choir Games.

Eat Well, Cincinnati

Creative fates to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike

If you live in Cincinnati and you have out-of-town guests, you’re going to want to take them (or they’ll want to be taken) to some rather famous Cincinnati establishments. Jean-Robert’s Table, Skyline, and Graeter’s all have national cache, and with good reason. But how about you surprise your guests (and maybe yourself?) with something a little different?

Mother’s Day Dish

Yes, it’s May again, and time to get ready for Mother’s Day! I have some advice: Do not buy your mom a present! It’s just one more thing that, when she eventually moves, you will have to carefully wrap in layers of bubble wrap, put in a box, attach the lid on with miles of tape and carry out to the truck.
