This weekend, the folks from local indie label Grasshopper Juice Records are gearing up for its fifth annual Adjust Your Eyes Music & Art Festival. The eclectic, camping-friendly event (this year being held at the Branch Hill VFW Hall in Loveland) will feature more than 30 musical acts on two stages, one indoors and one outdoors.

Socially-aware and politically-minded musicians like U2 and Public Enemy could be accused of trying to move (proverbial) mountains with their music. On Sunday, several local musicians will be joining forces to do just the opposite. "Music for the Mountains" is a music-minded event aimed at halting the practice of mountaintop removal coal mining in Appalachia.

Though I'm not a believer in the notion that "there's no truly original music being made anymore," I can recognize a truly unique aesthetic when I hear one. And that's just what I hear all over the debut album from Indie trio Slow Claw.
