Huge West Coast music fest to stream live through YouTube

You can get naked and wasted while checking out the music at this weekend's Coachella festival in California and not worry about footage of it being posted on YouTube by — irony alert! — watching the performers live from the festival on YouTube. The webcast kicks off today (in about six hours) through the Coachella channel on YouTube. First up is the reformed British band James; other shows being simulcast today include Neon Indian, Jimmy Cliff and Rancid's Tim Armstrong, Dawes (playing Taft Theatre June 6), Madness, Frank Ocean, Pulp, The Black Keys, Mazzy Star, Refused, Amon Tobin and M83. Broadcast highlights tomorrow include the sets of  tUnE-yArDs (performing at the CAC later this spring), Bad Veins tourmates We Were Promised Jetpacks, The Buzzcocks, Walk the Moon tourmates Kaiser Chiefs, Squeeze, Andrew Bird, St. Vincent (at Bogart's May 9), The Shins, Bon Iver and A$AP Rocky. Sunday's YouTube lineup includes Oberhofer and Santigold (both coming to town soon), as well as Fitz and the Tantrums, Black Flag legend Greg Ginn, The Hives, Justice, Beirut, Gotye and Modeselektor.

The MidPoint Indie Summer Series returns to Fountain Square on Friday evenings through Sept. 2. For the third consecutive year, MidPoint presents national, regional and local acts for free on downtown's main public square. Headliners include Maps & Atlases (June 17), Pomegranates (July 1), Big Freedia (July 8), Ted Leo & the Pharmacists (July 29), Bad Veins (Aug. 19), Margot and the Nuclear So & So's (Aug. 26) and The Greenhornes (Sept. 3).

Last Friday marked the kick-off of the free MidPoint Indie Summer series on Fountain Square, a jammed-pack affair headlined by Scottish Indie Pop troupe Camera Obscura. This Friday, Cincinnati's The Minor Leagues and for algnernon join national buzz bands Neon Indian and Wild Nothing. MidPoint Music Festival three-day passes are available at all Indie Summer shows for $29 while they last.

The upcoming MidPoint Indie Summer concert series on Fountain Square (three bands for free every Friday) opens with Scottish Indie Pop darlings Camera Obscura June 4, the much-buzzed about Neon Indian June 11, MidPoint vets Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit June 18 and reunited Pop/Punk Chicago band Smoking Popes June 25. And that's just the first month.
