In the years between 2002's High on the Hog and 2008's Tales from a Road King, Greater Cincinnati Country artist Dallas Moore and his band  toured relentlessly with a boundless appetite for the road and its greater and lesser sins. Since Road King, he’s put out several releases, including his latest album of powerful originals, Dark Horse Rider.

Supergroups are problematic in that egos and talent levels tend to cancel each other out, and musical combinations that sound good in theory often implode in the execution phase. The other musical construct that can be fraught with its own particular series of pitfalls is the musician-carrying-on-the-family-name scenario. Royal Southern Brotherhood would seem to be flying in the face of a boatload of potential negatives as their lineup reflects both  situations.

Start the holiday weekend early at 811 Race St. downtown, the one-time home of the Herzog recording studio where Hank Williams' legend was made. The Cincinnati USA Music Heritage Foundation hosts a party to celebrate the Dec. 22, 1948, recording session that birthed the American music classic "Lovesick Blues," a song recently inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m., and attendance is limited to 100 people.
