Local acts Rumpke Mountain Boys, Majestic Man, Jetset Getset and Noah Wotherspoon & Jessi Bair promote new albums this week. Plus, Ironfest presents its annual benefit concert for the daughter of the late Mike Davidson and The Medicine Men and Cheryl Renee bring Blues and R&B to the circus.

To anyone who knew late veteran musician/promoter Johnny Schott, it should be no surprise that there will be a huge “Commemorative Concert” in his honor loaded with tons of local performers this Sunday. Schott was not only a kind soul, but he assisted and mentored many local artists.

The names of many of the performers for this year's MidPoint Music Festival (coming up Sept. 23-25) have been leaking out gradually over the past few months. But this Friday, mpmf.com will unveil a new interactive schedule with all of the artists scheduled to play the event.  

Help for Haiti, Remembering Esme and Beating the Winter Blues

Organizers for Sunday's "Help for Haiti" benefit at Oakley's 20th Century Theatre put together a show in just a few days, and the massive and diverse roster of performers shows just how quick to help local artists are when an important cause comes up. The 6 p.m. concert will have Them Bones featuring Cheryl Renee, Freekbass, Kathy Wade, Kevin Fox, Sonny Moorman, Scotty Anderson, Phil DeGreg Trio, Steve Schmidt, Rumpke Mountain Boys, Robin Lacy and DeZydeco and many more acts. Suggested donation is $20. Proceeds go to the Red Cross.

The Cincy Blues Society's annual "Winter Blues Fest" is coming up at the end of January, but Monday you can get your Blues fix via a stellar lineup at Play By Play in Silverton. And it's for a good cause: helping area artists spread the good word of Midwestern Blues. The "Road to Memphis 2010" raises money to help local musicians get to Memphis to battle in next month's International Blues Challenge.

Singer/songwriter Eric Falstrom has been performing locally for several years, including with the rockin' Mystery Wagon in the early '90s. Since then, he's been working the solo route, releasing his own records off and on since the end of the Wagon. But Falstrom's latest CD, 'Love Will Come Through,' feels much like a reintroduction, featuring some of the best writing and performing of his career so far.
