Superunknown: The Neo-Folk Impulse Opening Reception

Holly Rouse
6-10 p.m., Friday October 25 | Free.

Thunder-Sky, Inc. celebrates the opening of "Superunknown: The Neo-Folk Impulse" with a reception at its gallery. The exhibit, which is on display through December 14, is curated by Toronto’s Leigh Cooney; the group show features seven artists from across North America who create works that combine the Day-glo precision of Pop art with the savvy guilelessness of Folk – a new genre/hybrid that allows you to rethink both styles, and that breathes new life into what “self- taught/outsider/visionary/etc.” actually can mean. Artists in the show include: Cooney, Rolo Cooney, Mike Egan, Andrea Joyce (her painting is pictured), Ben Kehoe, Marc Lambert, Bill Ross, and Matthew Waldeck.
