Oscar Shorts & More

Kyle Pope
4 p.m. and 7 p.m. , Sunday April 07 | $10 in advance, $12 at the Door.

Residents of the Cincinnati area know what they like and the annual Oscar Shorts & More has become a staple in their entertainment and cultural diet. The diverse slate of 14 works # 10 nominees and 4 bonus films # includes Oscar winners in two categories: Best Live-Action short film and Best Animated short film.  #Live Action# is the term used by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to describe regular films with human actors and real locations, as opposed to animated works.

Films from both categories are divided equally into two 95 minute programs, with comedy, romance, drama and suspense providing variety. From Steampunk to the Garden of Eden, from the Ayn Rand Daycare Center to animated film noir, from the Pirates of Somalia to the concrete canyons of New York City # viewers receive glimpses into rarely seen worlds with character studies from around the globe ranging from comedic to fantastic, from whimsy to starkly realistic drama.
