Lost Horizon : art about history

Stefanie Kremer
Tuesday through Friday: 2 - 7 p.m., Saturday: noon - 5 p.m. , Wednesday November 14

A small slice of the leading edge of the wave of time is documented, encapsulated, and frozen in the form of human history. They say that history is written by writers. Perhaps it is more true to say that it is written by those who survive, and only for the brief time in which they can still talk (or make art) about it. That, we suppose, would be the collective 'us.' Manifest received 626 entries from 273 artists in 41 states and 16 countries around the world for this project. The exhibit features sixteen works by artists from eleven states and the countries of Canada, England, and Israel.

The Manifest Drawing Center occupies the entire second floor of a historic 100 year old former Masonic hall in the heart of Madisonville, neighboring the public library, a Cincinnati Police Department substation, and the Madisonville Fire Company, and is just two short blocks south of the Madisonville Arts Center. The beautiful 3000 square foot space was selected to allow for Manifest's growing curriculum of high-end drawing instruction, and provides the option for two dedicated studio spaces (one large and one small), doubling Manifest’s ability to offer more courses during the most convenient times for participants. The new facility also offers more flexible options for additional programming, including a lecture and demonstration stage for use by our instructors and special guest artists throughout the year.
