Don't fret if you're not in tune with the Queen City's homespun music scene: There will be cutting-edge riffs to suit everyone's musical appetite 7-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Calling all woodland creatures, fairies, gnomes, goblins and those who just simply believe in magic: Full Spectrum's second annual Wee Fairy Folk Fest will be lining MainStrasse Village’s Sixth Street Promenade with glitter this Saturday from noon-5 p.m. Gather your whimsical crew for a full day of prancing around Covington with aerial performers, a selection of comedy acts and an array of fanciful street vendors.

Get your Bavarian swag in order and start prepping your biceps because the bier steins will be overflowing as Newport kicks off one of its biggest festivals of the year, Oktoberfest. Start your weekend right by indulging yourself to the bottom of the liter for Friday’s official grand opening at 6 p.m. And if dancing isn’t your forte, I suggest knocking a few more back, because The Eizian Dance Group is going to be bringing this accordion-loving house down, Munich-style.
