Holiday: Victorian Christmas Tour

Get swept back in time this holiday season with Victorian Christmas Tours of Newport’s East Row. The East Row tour will showcase “seven private historic homes — six of which have never opened to the public — and the beautifully restored Gen. James Taylor Mansion, originally built in 1815.” Friday and Saturday.  

Attractions: Fountain Square Ice Rink

The ice rink on Fountain Square is open again, and at nearly 7,000 square feet in size it's comparable to the one in New York's Rockefeller Center. On-site amenities include skate rental, lockers, benches and a heated tent. Admission and skate rental are $2.50 each. Daily through Feb. 21.

BuyCincy is an organization that promotes the city’s best local vendors, and on Saturday they will be holding this year’s Cincinnati Unchained. Stores across the city will be offering deals, gifts and charitable donations for this annual event. Every dollar spent at a locally-owned business creates nearly three times the economic activity of a dollar spent at a typical superstore.

PREFAB77’s first U.S. exhibit, Shot at from Both Sides at The BLDG draws inspiration from both sides of the pond with pieces in many different mediums including acrylic, varnish, spray-paint and ink. The exhibit is sure to challenge the idea of what Pop Surrealism art means in our modern world. The show, which opens at 8 p.m. Friday, runs through Dec. 31.  

Halloween: Run Like Hell

Come one, come all, to the greatest show on Earth! Well, in Dayton at least. Celebrating their 25th anniversary, the AIDS Resource Center of Ohio is hosting the 2009 edition of Masquerage. Let your freak flag fly high at this circus-themed event, complete with sword swallowers, fortune tellers, high-wire acts and much, much more. Food items fit for the big top will be provided by local vendors. he event will be held at Montgomery County Fairground’s Roundhouse 8 p.m. to 1a.m.
