So we gave Mixx Ultra Lounge a kind of shitty review when they first opened but this bar/sushi joint/plush-carpeted elevator ultra lounge offers a night life experience like no other place in this city. I went on Friday (12/19) for the Common listening party and was really surprised at how comfortably crowded and friendly it was in there. There are currently three floors although they plan on opening a fourth and fifth (that's where the "ultra" part comes in). There's a sushi bar, drinks and standing room on the first floor, a wooden bar and DJ area on the second and the third floor is for private VIP use (from what I gathered). The coolest part of the whole place is an old elevator they turned into a lounge area. Check out some photos from the Common listening party below and click here or on the image above to enter a full gallery.
I'm going to this on Friday. It's a benefit to save eastern hemlock trees, which are apparently being eaten by tiny Asian insects. Bonnie "Prince" Billy is headlining the music portion of the evening, but before that there's an art show from 5-8 p.m.
P.S. This is all in Lexington.
P.P.S. Gas is really cheap now.
The Since You've Been Gone Publico exhibit at the Weston Art Gallery welcomed musicians Me or the Moon, Burning Star Core and High Places from Brooklyn on Saturday night. Let's take a few moments to look at some photos...
Nothing's hotter than a man in uniform, except maybe a man in a lion suit. Or a man in a skeleton suit. What I'm really trying to say is that nothing's hotter than a guy in a sweet band, right? And MidPoint was just crawling with guys in sweet bands. More specifically the Courtyard Cafe was crawling with them. And even more specifically, I'm just trying to say how hot The Lions Rampant are...physically and literally. That place was crammed wall-to-wall with man flesh. And some lady flesh. Lots of girls had revealing shirts on, but that's ok. It was really schvitzy in there and nothing makes girls tops come unbuttoned like some Rock and Roll...
