Cincinnati's Face to the World

CityBeat and a couple of local blogs weren’t the only media outlets to notice the hostile and dangerous atmosphere swirling around the Cincinnati Tea Party event last month.

The rally garnered national attention on the popular Daily Kos Web site, one of the premiere Internet outlets for the progressive, “netroots” movement. Founded by Markos Moulitsas, Daily Kos has average weekday traffic of over 800,000 visits and receives over 20 million visits per month. It once was named “second best blog” by readers of Time magazine.

Cincinnati’s March 15 rally was the topic of an item written by Jed Lewison, which features a video clip from the 11 p.m. newscast that night on WKRC-TV (Channel 12), in which reporter Angela Ingram describes being threatened by a mob. The item's headline refers to some participants as "goons."

So far, the item has elicited 142 comments and counting.

Next week’s follow-up Tea Party and march to City Hall begins at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fountain Square.
