MidPoint Music Festival Taking Submissions

It seems like only yesterday that we were running all over Downtown trying to see a bazillion bands perform for the 2008 MidPoint Music Festival. Now it’s time to start preparing for a bigger, badder, better MidPoint in 2009.

Artists can now electronically submit their music for consideration to perform at MidPoint – which will take place Sept. 24-26 – right here right now. You’ll need three original songs and some promo material.

Once you submit, various judges will take a listen and decide if you make the cut. The early deadline for submissions is April 17. In order to be considered, you must have submitted by May 1.

Several new venues will be added to the festival this year, and we’re planning for a record number of performers. Plans are also afoot to bring back the daytime music “conference,” where panels of experts will dole out useful advice to musicians attending the fest.

Stay tuned at citybeat.com and mpmf.com for updates. And mark your calendars now for a special “MPMF09 Reveal Showcase” at the Southgate House on March 13, where we’ll announce even more details. That night is also the CD release show for Everybody, Come Outside!, the new one from local faves Pomegranates, who headlined a showcase at last year’s MidPoint of bands on their label, Lujo Records. Fellow MPMF08 performers Headlights are also on the bill.
