Music Tonight: Oakhurst

Bluegrass hybrid brings its 'citybilly' swagger to Stanley's Pub

oak-picDenver's Oakhurst

Coming into Stanley's Pub tonight, straight out of the Bluegrass hybridization capital of the world (Denver), is dynamic five-piece Oakhurst, fresh off a tour jaunt with fellow hard-touring Progressive Bluegrass ensemble Greensky Bluegrass. Oakhurst is no "Newgrass" newbie, fine tuning its genre collage of Americana, trad Bluegrass, AltCountry, Rock, Funk, Jazz and "Citybilly swagger" at clubs and tests across the country for an increasingly fervent fan base. The "Rocky Mountain Guerilla Grass" group (so diverse they've been nominated in five different categories in their hometown music awards program) is out now supporting its three-song EP, Barrel, a preview of Oakhurst's forthcoming full-length due this spring. Click here to download the EP for free, then head to Stanley's tonight for the group's 9 p.m.

show. Admission is $5.

Here's the EP's title track for a teaser taste:
