Walk The Moon's RCA Debut Out Now

The Anna Sun EP marks Cincinnati band's major-label debut, showcasing three unreleased tracks from forthcoming LP

Last week, Cincinnati's stars-in-the-making Walk the Moon issued the first release under its deal with RCA Records. Though only three songs, the effort is illuminating and a hint of what's to come on the band's forthcoming, so-far-untitled RCA full-length debut (due to be released this May). The Indie Dance Pop foursome has seemingly been touring and doing business related tasks non-stop for at least the last year. Now that it has a release on RCA, that will only increase. The recording is called Anna Sun EP, named for the band's irresistible tune that (along with a stellar music video) helped initially generate much of the buzz they've received fairly consistently over the past year or so.The song "Anna Sun" is on the EP, but those who have i want! i want! (the group's stellar self-released LP containing the original track) might still want to listen. It's a new version of the catchy song, slicked up a bit for radio and seemingly (inexplicably) sped up.

As often happens, the label probably wanted a full-on audio makeover to make the song more ready (sonically) for radio. It's a good thing to think about — "Anna Sun" should be a smash hit single — but there was something about that original version that's missing on the new one.

I just hope RCA doesn't commission a new music video for the song; the band's initial lower-budgeted, warm, fun and entertaining clip cannot be topped. (As of now, it appears that original video is still being used in promotions; it's currently in rotation on mtvU.)

The EP's other two tracks — "Tightrope" and "Next In Line" — are previously unreleased (all three will be on the full-length), but the two tunes may be familiar to fans who have seen WTM perform live on multiple occasions.

Here are live clips of the two unreleased tracks. The Anna Sun EP is available now through the iTunes store. The band will have hard-copy versions with them on their upcoming tour dates (of which there are a ton). Click here to listen to all three new tracks.

Walk the Moon also remain as busy as ever on the road. Last week, the band kicked off its stint on the mtvU Woodies Tour, opening for fellow Indie sensations Young the Giant. The trek brings WTM back home Feb. 24 for a show at Covington's Madison Theater. Two days after that tour ends, they jump back out on the road supporting BritPop rockers The Kaiser Chiefs through the end of March. In late March, the group plays the big Sasquatch Festival in George, Wash.

Expect to see Walk the Moon members' adorable mugs on TV a lot more with the RCA releases coming out. Last Call with Carson Daly (one of the band's early supporters) is filming the WTM show this Thursday at The Wiltern in L.A. and will broadcast segments on a future show.

On April 5, the band makes it debut appearance on NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
