The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Greater Cincinnati recently held its annual membership meeting and elected leaders for 2012.

Rusty Lockett and John Maddux were elected to another term as board president and vice president, respectively. Lockett formerly served as the center’s clerk before first being elected president in early 2010. Also, he has served as event chairman for Pride Night at Kings Island in September and is convener of the local LGBT Episcopal worship group, called Integrity.

Additionally, Joshua Garner was elected as treasurer and Denise Taylor was elected secretary.

Other board members include Bill Abney, Michael X. Chanak, Crystal Loomis, Toby Martino and Nate Wessel. About 30 people attended the annual meeting.

Loomis, 26, is the newest board member. A native of Springfield, Ohio, she lives in Northside and is a University of Cincinnati student. Loomis began volunteering at age 13, stating, “I really enjoy helping people and being involved in the community; it is one of my passions."

In other business, next year's Pride Night at Kings Island was scheduled for Friday, Sept. 7.

Opened in late 1993, the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Greater Cincinnati serves as a resource to the local GLBT community and its allies, offering meeting space and programs.

The center is located on the first floor of 4119 Hamilton Ave. in Northside. For more information, call 513-591-0200.
