Steve Carell is expected to star in a new heist film called Conviction. Originally it was billed as a crime drama but has since been pitched as an action comedy, hence Carell.

Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard are in the frame to play Linda Lovelace and Chuck Traynor in the upcoming biopic Lovelace, based on Eric Danville’s book The Complete Linda Lovelace. James Franco and Kate Hudson were previously attached but both dropped out when Hudson became preggers. And no one wants a prego porn star.

Joel Edgerton (Warrior) is in talks to star in the 300 sequel, 300: Battle of Artemisia. Was there not closure?

Well Edgerton “would play Themosticles, the famed archon and general who led the Greeks to victory against the invading Persians in 480 BCE.” Edgerton is also in Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming Kill Bin Laden.

Long-time producer of the Academy Awards and two-term president of the Directors Guild of America Gilbert Cates has died at the age of 77.

A Calgary man was prepared to kill himself this week. That is until he learned of Lindsay Lohan’s Playboy shoot in which she would pose nude. “I had the pills on the table,” said Jefferey Knutson, 34. “I was literally doing the final edits on my suicide note in Google Docs.”

Knutson says he’s been planning to kill himself every three or four months for the last five years. “Initially, I thought last Sunday would be the perfect day to end it. I’d been on my fourth failed Internet date in a month, and it seemed like a good day to throw in the towel. But then I heard the news about Lindsay, and I realized I probably won’t be able to see these pictures if I’m not alive.” Knutson says the last time he came this close to killing himself, he had to stall in order to catch an episode of American Idle.
