Facing a $33 million deficit for next year, Cincinnati officials are facing some tough choices — including the city manager's recommendation to layoff 44 police officers. Now the public may chime in and offer suggestions.
City Council's Budget and Finance Committee has scheduled four public hearings this month at different locations throughout Cincinnati, with the first set for this week.
This week's hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at the Hartwell Recreation Center, 8275 Vine St. The next hearing will be held Aug. 15 at the Hirsch Recreation Center, 3630 Reading Road, in Avondale.
Another hearing will be held Aug. 16 at the offices of Working In Neighborhoods, 1814 Dreman Ave., in South Cumminsville. The fourth hearing will be held at the offices of the Metropolitan Sewer District, 1081 Woodrow St., in Lower Price Hill.
All hearings begin at 6 p.m.
Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls chairs the committee, and the entire council are members of the group.
