There’s been a lot of new announcements from the MidPoint Music Festival in the past couple of days. Below is an update of the latest info. Wanna discuss further? Come on out to tonight’s MidPoint Indie Summer Series kick-off concert on Fountain Square. The free, all-ages show kicks off at 7 p.m. with Lydia Burrell, followed by Javelin and Cincy’s own You, You’re Awesome (which is using the occasion to celebrates its brand new full-length, Good Point, Whoever Said That).
• Tonight’s Indie Summer show is the first time you can pick up discounted three-day passes to MidPoint. For a limited time, $39 three-day wristbands will be available to purchase at each Indie Summer show (while they last). Those three-day passes are also available through mpmf.com for $49 (plus shipping fees). Click here to grab yours now. The passes will be available at select retailers beginning July 1.
There are also new “VIP” three-day passes available for $125 through the site. Those get you “priority admission” to shows, party invites (with free food and drinks!) and lots of MidPoint swag and Cincinnati-centric coupons and offers.
• There are lots of new features at mpmf.com to make your MidPoint experience all the more interactive and fun. The site now has an easy way to volunteer (just click “Volunteer” and fill out a simple form), a place to sign up for the just-launched “Monty ShoutOUT,” a weekly newsletter with all the latest MPMF news and much more, and if you click on the “Community” tab, you can find MidPoint's various social media feeds and, soon, Flickr photos related to the festival. Surf on over and explore now!
• The latest band to sign on for September’s 10th anniversary festival is (imaginary drum roll, please) Okkervil River, one of Spin magazine’s “New Stars of Americana.” Here’s a clip of the band playing “Rider” on David Letterman’s show:
• Finally, the rest of the MidPoint Indie Summer Series concerts have been announced, capped off by a homecoming gig on Sept. 2 by The Greenhornes.
(one more band TBA)
