Eat Sugar and Mush Records are giving away three tracks though the Mush Web site, free for a limited time. The download is a maxi-single featuring the original version and two remixes of “Clap You Hands,” a track from Eat Sugar’s Levántense! album. The digital-only full-length (the first from the band) was recently re-released by Mush on CD, giving it a well-deserved extra push to find a wider audience.
(Read more about it here.)
The remixes on the download (available here by entering your email address) are both excellent. Thavius Beck, an electronic music artist/producer/MC also on Mush, gives “Clap” a swirling, frenetic makeover on the “Thavius Beck Swirling Coals Remix” (as its parenthesized), while adventurous Seattle Electro/Rock/Soul trio The Animals At Night deconstructs the track and gives it a sense of space and minimalism, with warm textures swaying beneath sudden, violent, overdistorted guitar outbursts on the “Animals At Night South Williamsburg Remix.”
Since its reissue, Levántense! has drawn positive reviews and has been steadily featured in iTunes’ “New and Noteworthy” sections for both Alternative and Electronic releases.
