As expected, the freshly painted and lighted Roebling Suspension Bridge made several appearances on last night's ESPN telecast of the Bengals-Steelers game. Also as expected, the Bengals failed to win ... but that's another blog post for another time.
Matt Cunningham has an interesting story in this week's CityBeat about the volunteer group Covington-Cincinnati Suspension Bridge Committee, which is responsible for the bridge's new decorative lighting. The state of Kentucky officially owns the bridge and repainted it, reopening the span to traffic last Friday, but for 35 years volunteers have done everything else to keep the bridge a local icon, lighting the stone piers and stringing "necklace" lights along the support cables.
Cunningham took the photos for his story from multiple angles. See a gallery of his shots here.
