What should I be doing instead of this?

Stage Door: Tons of Fun

If you're a CityBeat reader, you're probably consumed with the Midpoint Music Festival this weekend. But if you need a breather from the tsunami of tunes all over town, you have lots of good theater choices, several of which are just opening.

Look for Loot at NKU, The Full Monty at Footlighers and the regional premiere of The Understudy at Cincinnati Playhouse. The latter is the first staging of Theresa Rebeck's Broadway hit at a regional theater. Rebeck is a Cincinnati native (grad of Ursuline Academy), and her backstage comedy is both funny and insightful.

This is the final weekend for the best show so far this season, Collected Stories at Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati (my review is here). On the Playhouse's main stage you can still catch Kathleen Turner in High (review) and Cincinnati Shakespeare keeping laughs rolling and the tunes playing (from the ’60s) with a hippie version of Much Ado About Nothing (review). An excellent touring production of the Broadway revival of South Pacific continues at the Aronoff Center downtown (review).

I don't want to hear that you can't find a show that suits your tastes. There's plenty available.
