CityBeat hosted the 14th annual and final Cincinnati Entertainment Awards for Theater Sunday night at Know Theatre in Over-the-Rhine, and as always the local theater community enjoyed the opportunity to catch up after summer breaks and celebrate before the new season gets underway. Awards were handed out in 27 categories, some voted on by the public and some determined by a "critical achievement" panel of local critics. Find a list of all the nominees and winners here.

In case you missed the event (or were there and "forget" exactly what happened), we've published a photo gallery here and a multimedia piece with interviews here.

Memorable moments from Sunday night: seeing CityBeat's Rick Pender and The Enquirer's Jackie Demaline together at the event to formally announce the merger of the CEAs with the Acclaim Awards starting next spring (read more about that announcement here); Rick's quip about he and Jackie sharing the same birthday; hearing about the joy of theater and of teaching theater in remarks by CCM's Terrell Finney and his colleague, new CEA Hall of Famer Aubrey Berg (read Rick's interview with Aubrey here); a gaggle of CCM students and grads huddling with Aubrey for photos after the show; Rick's salute to The Great Disappearing Ed Stern (pictured), who recently announced his departure from Playhouse in the Park after the 2011-12 season; Matt Johnson's Andy Kaufman-esque "acceptance" speech; the enthusiasm for each nominee as his or her name was announced; the winners' thank-you remarks; and the hospitality and cold beer offered by Eric Vosmeier and his staff at Know.

I'd like to thank Jon Diebold at Washington Platform for providing food for the event, Know's Doug Borntrager for putting together a very nice technical presentation (with a video feed to the bar area!) and Mike Flohr for his excellent piano accompaniment.

The fall theater season kicks off soon, so let's start making new memories.
