If you have ever bitched about the lack of creative Hip Hop, then you've never heard of Mush Records. The Avant Hop label features a stable of inventive, experimental and often mind-blowing MCs, musicians and DJs, including several artists with Cincinnati ties, including Boom Bip (pictured) and Doseone.

That's probably why the first ever Mush Records Tour includes, almost amazingly, an area stop at the Southgate House. Just as the Mush recordings are often beyond what most people can conceive as "Hip Hop," this tour is promising a welcome break from the "backing tape" live show -- cLOUDDEAD, Reaching Quiet and Radioinactive will perform with live bands, while Boom Bip and Doseone will mix turntables and laptops and MC Labtekwon goes old school with his touring DJ. This show has the chance of being the best Hip Hop concert our area has ever seen and is a must-see for any fan of music that ignores boundaries and expectations. More information on the Mush acts and their most recent releases can be found at dirtyloop.com.

Monday at the Southgate House.-- M.B.
