After enduring enough label skirmishes to make anyone call it a day, Scrawl have moved on with their careers after their recent relationship with their first major label, Elektra, fell apart.

Armed with a crate of their last, acclaimed release for the label, Nature Film, and recent press kits with the Elektra logo simply snipped off the letterhead, the Columbus' trio show no signs of slowing down. Nature Film was a rugged gem too smart and direct for its own good. Capturing emotions with lyrics and melodies better than most anyone, the group's vibrant, immediate sound -- which has won them an international following of discerning Indie Rock fans -- was reaching peak form with Nature Film, so it should be interesting to see where the band goes, creatively, from here.

Saturday at the Southgate House with Ass Ponys and Fairmount Girls.
