Indie Hip Hop supergroup Glue hasn’t performed in more than five years, but on Friday two-thirds of the crew will reassemble for a Glue reunion show in Northside. Glue began in the early ’00s as a long-distance recording project/collaboration between New Hampshire-based MC Adeem, Chicago producer Maker and Cincinnati’s djdq of legendary local turntablist group Animal Crackers. The trio released its well-received debut album, Seconds Away, through Cincinnati’s Shake It Records and then became a touring entity to support it, spending an entire summer on the Vans Warped Tour.
After an EP for Shake It and a second album, Catch as Catch Can, for Fat Beats, plus scattered touring, the trio went on hiatus toward the end of the ’00s. Friday’s “almost reunion” will feature djdq and Adeem, whose Cincinnati ties reach back to the late ’90s when he scored the first of an unprecedented two victories at vaunted local Hip Hop fest Scribble Jam’s mythical MC battle. With Oakland’s Durazzo and New Orleans’ AF the Naysayer.
10 p.m. Friday. $5. Mayday, 4227 Spring Grove Ave., Northside, maydaynorthside.com.
