If you’re a fan of independent, progressive Hip Hop, pack your overnight backpack and camp out at the Northside Tavern this weekend, because Friday and Saturday night the club hosts some of the best local and national acts currently creeping up from the underground.
After Friday’s “bon voyage” show by local Hip Hop trio Counterfeit Money Machine (as they get set to tour their way to Texas’ South By Southwest fest), on Saturday the Tavern hosts the local tour stop of the Hellfyre Club, an L.A.-based supergroup/collective/label anchored by adventurous MCs Busdriver, Nocando, Open Mike Eagle and Milo.
Late last year, the collective released the free mixtape Dorner vs.
Tookie, a crazily diverse collaborative album that drew widespread acclaim. The release and current tour are precursors to a plethora of solo ventures from the Hellfyre-starters expected later this year.
9 p.m. $5. Northside Tavern, 4163 Hamilton Ave., Northside. 513-542-3603, northside-tavern.com.
