MOTR Pub hosts an open feature and poetry reading in the form of Word of Mouth, a monthly reading in the pub’s basement the first Tuesday of the month, hosted by poets Jim Palmarini and Mark Flanigan.

Inspired by the late Aralee Strange, a former Cincinnati writer and artist who co-founded a Word of Mouth spoken word event in Athens, Ga., this Cincinnati-based event creates an arc between the two.

This version of Word of Mouth asks poets to “Show Up, Mouth Off and Pay Attention.”

The first featured reader is Matt Hart, the author of five books of poems, a founder and the editor-in-chief of Forklift, Ohio: A Journal of Poetry, Cooking & Light Industrial Safety and teacher at the Art Academy of Cincinnati

7 p.m. Tuesday. Free. MOTR Pub, 1345 Main St., Over-the-Rhine, motrpub.com.
