The perennial debate over what constitutes “outsider” art is thrown out the window for Thunder-Sky’s upcoming exhibition Superunknown: The Neo-Folk Impulse

Guest curated by Leigh Cooney of the Cooney Brothers, Irish self-taught artists and brothers who live and work in Toronto, the group show features seven artists from across North America including Leigh and brother Rolo Cooney, Bill Ross, Andrea Heimer and Matthew Waldeck.

According to gallery PR, the show was curated around the concept of “getting away from classifications.” Instead, the curator points to Pop and Folk arts as influences for the participating artists.

Opening reception: 6-10 p.m.

Exhibition on view through Dec. 14. Free. Thunder-Sky, Inc., 4573 Hamilton Ave., Northside, raymondthundersky.org.
